Have you ever felt like life’s just too broken—like when someone you love dies, illness comes back, or people walk away? In those moments, faith can feel hard to hold onto, especially when God seems silent. Psalm 88 gives us a rare look at raw, unresolved doubt, ending not with hope, but with the words, “Darkness is my closest friend.” And yet, God left it in the Bible. Maybe that’s because real faith isn’t about having it all together—it’s about being honest, even when things feel messy.
